Associates of Nursing w/ Telehealth (ASN-T)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Associate of Science Degree in Nursing program incorporates theoretical instruction, laboratory, telehealth, and practical clinical experience. The student must complete laboratory and/or clinical rotations in Fundamentals, Pharmacology, Maternity, Pediatric, Medical Surgical, Community, Geriatric, and Mental Health, plus Leadership and Management.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as entry-level Registered Nurses. The program prepares graduates for work in Acute, Sub-acute, Community, and Long-Term Care facilities and as well as working remotely utilizing Telehealth Medicine. Graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the health care delivery system and health occupations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and use interpersonal skills effectively.
  • Demonstrate legal and ethical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and apply wellness and disease concepts.
  • Recognize and practice safety and security procedures.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
  • Recognize and practice infection control procedures.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of information technology applications in healthcare.
  • Demonstrate employability skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of blood borne diseases, including HIV/AIDS.
  • Apply basic math and science skills.
  • Demonstrate competencies in the core components of professional nursing-professional behavior.
  • Demonstrate competencies in the core components of professional nursing-communication.
  • Demonstrate competencies in the core components of professional nursing-assessment.

EXPLANATION OF COURSE DELIVERY

Portions of the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (Tele-Health Track) program are delivered via residential and hybrid methods; primarily the general education and pre-nursing courses may be taught via distance education (online).

Students may attend courses delivered synchronously in a physical classroom or via a virtual classroom (i.e., zoom) at scheduled times for a live didactic experience.

Asynchronous delivery is used to support and enhance synchronous learning experiences.
