General Education
Students must complete the required general education courses prior to the applicable point in the Pre-Licensure Degree program.
The ten eligible general education courses may be completed through StraighterLine or accepted as transfer credit, in accordance with the College’s applicable requirements and policies.

The Associate of Science in Nursing with a Focus in Telehealth program incorporates theoretical instruction, laboratory, and practical clinical experience in foundational nursing and Telehealth.
Students complete laboratory and/or clinical experiences in areas including Fundamentals, Pharmacology, Maternity, Pediatric, Medical Surgical, Community, Geriatric, Mental Health, Leadership and Management, and Telehealth.
Graduates may apply to the applicable board of nursing. Eligibility for licensure is determined by the applicable board of nursing. Graduates must pass the NCLEX-RN and satisfy all applicable licensure requirements before practicing as a registered nurse.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as entry-level Registered Nurses. The program prepares graduates for work in Acute, Subacute, Community, and Long-Term Care facilities and to apply nursing knowledge and skills in settings that utilize Telehealth.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
- Students are also awarded a Certified Telemedicine Clinical Presenter completed through our educational partners in addition to the degree upon MSN program completion.
- The program will also prepare students to sit the Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC®) through the American Nurses Association.

PROGRAM DELIVERY
- Masters in nursing, Informatics, and Telehealth Track is delivered online (Asynchronous)
- Students can access courses and complete coursework at any time.
- Some courses may include limited synchronous learning activities such as live Lectures on Zoom

Definitions
- Synchronous (i.e., face-to-face, real-time)
Students meet with the instructor at regularly scheduled intervals in an on-ground or virtual classroom for live or “real-time†communication and interaction between the instructor and students. Both instructors and students can see, hear, and interact with each other. - Asynchronous
Students access materials that are prerecorded or created allowing the learner to access them at their own pace within specified periods of time. Contact with instructors usually takes place via phone or e-mail. Asynchronous courses do not require students to be present at scheduled times during the term.

NURSE INFORMATICS CERTIFICATION
Eligibility
Hold a current, active RN license in a state or territory of the United States or hold the professional, legally recognized equivalent in another country.
- Hold a bachelor’s or higher degree in nursing or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Have practiced the equivalent of 2 years full-time as a registered nurse.
- Have completed 30 hours of continuing education in informatics nursing within the last 3 years.
- Meet one of the following practice hour requirements:
- Have practiced a minimum of 2,000 hours in informatics nursing within the last 3 years or
- Have practiced a minimum of 1,000 hours in informatics nursing in the last 3 years and completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of academic credit in informatics courses that are part of a graduate-level informatics nursing program. or
- Have completed a graduate program in informatics nursing containing a minimum of 200 hours of faculty-supervised practicum in informatics nursing
The ANCC Informatics Nursing board certification examination is a competency-based examination that provides a valid and reliable assessment of the entry-level clinical knowledge and skills of registered nurses in the informatics specialty after initial RN licensure. Once you complete the eligibility requirements to take the certification examination and successfully pass the exam, you are awarded the credential: Registered Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC).
This credential is valid for 5 years. You can continue to use this credential by maintaining your license to practice and meeting the renewal requirements in place at the time of your certification renewal. The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification accredits this ANCC certification.
NURSE INFORMATICS AND TELEHEALTH CAREER OUTLOOK
The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMMS) survey discovered that nurse informaticists (63%) earn a salary that ranges from $61,000 to $115,000. That is significantly higher compared to the median salary of a traditional Registered Nurse, which according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics is around $76,400 annually.
In the same survey HIMMS) survey three (3) out of four (4) nurse informaticists stated that they are highly satisfied with their career choice. HIMSS surveyed over 1,300 nurse informaticists.
According to the Department of Labor, projected job growth through 2028 is 9%, much faster than average for most professions,³with a projected 70,000 nursing informatics specialists/analysts needed by 2025.

TWO (2) TRACK MASTER’S IN NURSING DEGREE SPECIALIZATIONS

The Master of Science in Nursing program allows the registered nurse to continue their education to become an advanced practice nurse and specialize in one of three (3) concentration areas: (1) Nursing Informatics with Telehealth, (2) The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and (3) Nurse Educator.
